Sometimes loneliness is a matter of perception, but the thing is - it is always around. We have it in ourselves. We choose to accept it as a given emotional status quo. It is like with any other emotion one could think of: anger, hate, grief, sadness, depression, helplessness… despair. Also joy, hopefulness, bliss, love… peace.
They all come from inside. We create them. We can try to unmake them, mask them with distractions or we can accept them and live with them.
Even if it takes your whole life.
There is one moment in Another Earth that I keep reminding myself: if I could find a way to love that ticking sound that is driving me crazy in my solitude… I would cruise through space and time in peace with myself; for that ticking sound is just my imagination. You can create things out of thin air, or destroy them if your mind chooses to.
Did you notice that you can’t usually hear yourself breathing, while others do? Your mind filters that sound as it is not important.
I think you can find a way to live with pain too.
Why I love modern cellphones: you can talk with other people (duh), plan your week, take notes, play games, watch movies or clips, listen to music.
And take pictures.
